AS won a special prize for Modular Timber Design !

AS are happy to announce that our project “JENGA” won a special prize in the international Timber Modular design competition organised by the Outsider magazine and Modular Timber™. The price was announced on 29 April 2023. The world is facing the challenge of climate change and loss of biodiversity, and there is a widespread shortage of affordable housing in the face of urbanisation and changing living standards. The brief asked to address the following questions: How can modular timber construction be used to respond to the contemporary housing crisis? How to achieve the greatest architectural variety with the fewest building elements possible? The competition aimed to find innovative ideas for a universal modular timber building system.

[Ku]jenga! Timber for Housing LFA 2023 entry

AS Architects submitted a challenging scheme for an eco home pavilion for 10 people inspired by the game of “Jenga!” for the LFA London Festival of Architecture 2023 competition for the site near St. Paul’s Cathedral. Our entry highlighted the need to address and satisfy the great demand of housing in the English capital for young people and first buyers including single mothers with residences made of modular timber housing units.
